Hi Don!

The Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert 1621/1621HD - 30K GTW - 4.5K TW # GY38FR is a beefy boy, weighing in at 162 pounds. That's actually not as heavy as some of the 5th wheel to gooseneck king pins, but it is by no means light.

What are you wanting to install this on?

I am considering going from the standard fifth wheel to the gooseneck on my 2021 Brookstone 310 RL. A friend of mine installed the gooseneck hitch on his fifth wheel And He said that it now tows really nice. My current hitch in the bed weighs just over 200 lb and if I move to a gooseneck that way it's going to drop to 20 lb, so the weight of the gooseneck hitch on the trailer would probably work out evenly or even a little lighter. I am just doing my research right now probably not going to make the move to the gooseneck until the beginning of next year camping season is just about over only have two more trips for this year and they're short ones.

@DonF Following the 6 Ps of success (Proper Previous Planning Prevents Poor Performance) is always a good idea in my book, so I am all for doing the research beforehand! A lot of people are switching over to this style of king pin as not having to move a heavy 5th wheel hitch around is definitely an upgrade to the experience. I have also heard people say towing is nicer as well. There is more ability for the gooseneck coupler to move around on the ball than the head of a hitch can. Where are your last two trips taking you?

@LazerS We are going to South Beach Oregon from Eugene Oregon for the next trip coming up this month and then next month we are going to Beverly Beach State Park which is north of Newport Oregon, first trip is about a 110 mi and the second one's about 130 MI one way.

@DonF Man those are some pretty epic cost lines! I'm originally from San Diego and we had some nice coast, but nothing like that! Have fun on your trips and let me know if there is anything else I can help with!
