Suspension Enhancement for 2021 Dodge Durango R/T Towing Race Car Trailer

Updated 09/17/2025 | Published 09/08/2025

Question:

2021 Dodge Durango R/T with tow and go package awd 8700 lb tow capacity. Am looking for something to minimize rear squat when towing my open car trailer and race car 5500 lbs. I have reduced the factory SRT rear negative static camber as the rear tires wear out quickly on the insides. Vehicle does not have auto load leveling so am considering the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension - Rear Axle Part Number: CSS-1145R. Will the helper springs help mitigate the squat. Also, will they impact the normal ride quality when not towing?

Hey Patrick, yes the SumoSprings kit part # CSS-1145R that you referenced is exactly what you are looking for. This will do a great job reducing the sag you are experiencing sag when towing your race car trailer. What kind of racing are you into?

Thanks. Will it impact the ride quality when not towing? I mainly participate in PCA events with my 718 GT4 Clubsport. Thanks again, Patrick

@PatrickP That's an amazing car! The feedback we've gotten on that type of SumoSpring is that the unloaded ride quality is basically unaffected yet it still provides great support.
