Question:

Towing a 17’ Jayco humming bird with a 2008 Toyota Highlander. I need to raise the rear by about 1 1/2 to 2” while hooked up. What product would you recommend to achieve that. Looking to hear from you Thanks

Hey Pete. The best solution to address sagging in your Highlander's rear end is to use a weight distribution system. It looks like your 2017 Jayco Hummingbird tops out at 3,750 lbs. That means your tongue weights going to be somewhere around 375 lbs to 560 lbs.

The best system is going to be the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System item # EQ37060ET. It works with tongue weights in the 200 lbs - 600 lbs range. This will definitely level out the rear end of your Highlander when you tow your trailer. The built in sway control will also keep your trailer in line when you're going down the highway and get passed by a semi or make a sudden lane change.

Please note that the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for Coil Spring Suspension item # CSS-1168R if your Highlander is a 2WD or item # CSS-1145R for a 4WD will not raise the rear end of your vehicle. They'll smooth out the ride some but won't prop the suspension up the 1-1/2" - 2" you need.

If you have any additional questions feel free to throw them into the comment box below and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Pete, did the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System help level out the rear of your Highlander when towing your Jayco Hummingbird? I'm asking because your experience could help others facing similar towing challenges.
