Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2025 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid

Updated 09/04/2025 | Published 09/03/2025

Question:

I read your recommendation to Barry G, above. I just bought a 2025 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid as our new flat tow vehicle that we will tow behind our Class A Diesel motorhome. The Lincoln is a replacement for a Jeep that we previously had as our tow vehicle. I am trying to find out if I can reuse any of the flat tow components we already have. I know that we will need a new base plate that is custom fit to the Lincoln. That will be the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BLU35UR. I also plan on buying the Roadmaster Universal Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 10" LED Strips # RM35MR and the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25. I currently have the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Tow Bar. Will this tow bar be compatible with the new Blue Ox base plate kit? It looks like the curb weight for the 2025 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid is about 4,520 lbs. so the Blue Ox Alpha 2 is rated to tow that load. I also currently have the BrakeBuddy Select 3 Supplemental Braking System - Proportional. Will this supplemental braking system work with our new Lincoln? Is there anything else I am missing or should consider? Thank you.

Hey Jeff! Your Blue Ox Alpha 2 # BX7380 can carry over and will be compatible with the # BLU35UR so you're all set there. The Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Flat Tow Brake System # HM39524 is also compatible. Do you have everything from the original setup for it?

If not, you probably need the Second Vehicle Kit for Brake Buddy Flat Tow Brake Systems # BB59SR. The Brake Buddy includes a charge line, the 2nd vehicle kit replaces that if it was left on the old vehicle, so the # RM-156-25 won't be necessary. The Roadmaster Universal Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM35MR will cover your lights and then you will also need the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect # RM-766.

The only other thing you may need is a high-low adapter to keep your setup level. The bracket height on the Blue Ox base plate is 16" so you can compare that to your hitch height on the motorhome to see if one is required. I attached a help article below explaining how to measure if you're unsure, along with a link to all of our available adapters.

Any big trips planned once you get your new Nautilus ready to go?

Thank you! Great information and you answered my next question about the 2nd vehicle kit for the BrakeBuddy system before I asked it. I'll be putting that on my order list and the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect as well. Thanks again for all your help!
