Can I Use My Saris Fold Up Bike Rack On My 2025 Kia Sportage?

Updated 09/16/2025 | Published 09/03/2025

Question:

Hello eTrailer team. I am looking for a 2 inch hitch receiver for our Kia Sportage Hybrid 2025. This model has caught my eye as I really like the option to remove the hitch receiver part when not needed, for a cleaner look. My primary concern is how far the hitch receiver will for lack of better words, reach out the back. We will be using this receiver with a Saris 4 bike rack. When installed and flipped into upright position on our Honda Odyssey, there is only an inch or so clearance between the bike rack and the rear bumper. So the concern is that if the hitch receiver on the Kia does not reach far enough out the back, we would not be able to flip the bike rack out of the way. For reference, the hitch receiver bolt on the Honda is 5” forward of the rear bumper when looking straight up from underneath the car. I did not see any detailed measurements on this product’s page. Would you be able to tell me the “front to back” distance or horizontal offset? between the rear mounting holes to the car frame, and the hitch receiver bolt? That way I could find out myself, how many inches the hitch receiver bolt will sit in front of the rear bumper and verify that the bike rack will fit. I hope my ask is making sense :- Pictures attached. Thanks a lot! PS: If I end up buying this receiver, I’d be happy to send photos after installation.

Hey Christoph,

You are definitely making sense with that question asked. With that said the EcoHitch you were looking at, # EH82KR, is not one that we have been able to install on that particular vehicle yet, and I have not had luck with EcoHitch directly to get better schematics. However, digging through instructions and forums the EcoHitch installs and sits in the same position as our etrailer hitch would sit, # e38KR. I even walked through our parking lot to see if I could find one with a hitch on it.

There is a video of us installing this hitch on that same vehicle which I attached for you to look out. The outer most edge of the hitch sits almost flush with the bumper on that Kia. Depending on how long of a shank is on your Saris bike rack, I see no issues being able to use that rack and be able to utilize the fold up function.

Thank you very much for this helpful info. I’ll run this by my wife and we’ll decide on which hitch model to buy.
