Tips For Unplugging Factory Tail Light Connector On 2024 Chevy Colorado

Question:
2024 Chevy Colorado.. Is there any magic in getting the tail lights disconnected from the harness so I can get them out to wire the diodes into them? There is a little red item that I pulled back on the connector part that plugs into the body but I cannot get the plug disconnected.

Hello Norm, thanks for reaching out. The factory connectors can be tricky, but sadly, I have not learned a powerful enough spell for undoing the connectors (yet) haha. I can still provide some helpful info though.
As far as the connectors on the Colorado, the connector is a few feet back from the actual tail light up under the vehicle. Once you find it there will be a red locking tab you pull back on. With the red tab pulled back, you push it in, and it should release the connector.
Take a look at the video I linked below. If you fast forward to like the 6:20 mark you can see the connector. The video doesn't show him actually disconnecting it, but you can still kind of see how its done.
I hope this helps. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Thanks for the info. I never occurred me to push it in after I pulled it back.
