Question:
Hello, I am looking to install a trailer hitch and wiring harness on my 2024 Volkswagen Jetta SE. I would like a wiring harness that is plug-and-play if possible, since I would prefer not to cut or splice into the factory wiring. Could you please let me know which wiring harness you recommend for this vehicle? If there are multiple options, I would appreciate your advice on which would be the best fit for reliability and ease of installation. Thank you for your help

Hi Mark!
The hitch will depend on if you have the dual exhaust or single exhaust. If you have single exhaust, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11540. For the dual exhaust, you will want the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24978. The Draw-Tite will technically fit either option, but the install is more difficult, so I would go with the Curt if at all possible. Plus the Curt is American made.
Wiring will be a bit more difficult as there were a few issues with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118791, which is the only possible plug and play option. If the plugs in the back of the light have a 5 pin (like in the included picture), you will be good to go. If you have a 4 pin though, you will need to splice into the wiring with the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236. There isn't a plug and play option for the 4 pin lights as of yet, unfortunately.
What will you be towing with your Jetta?

Hi, thanks for your response. I’ll just be towing a small flat cargo trailer for trash and other light loads, and most of the time I’ll be using it just for a bike rack. I don’t mind splicing into wiring if needed, but I’d prefer to avoid cutting into factory wires if there’s a cleaner option available. So maybe I should remove the panel and check the wiring connection first? Thank you, Mark
