Is There a Less Pressure the Tamarack ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire Can Run for a Lower Weight?

Updated 08/30/2025 | Published 08/13/2025

Question:

Regarding Tamarack ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D product that you sell, I am trying to determine the ideal tire pressure for something less than max capacity of 2,540 lbs at 65 psi. Any idea for say 1,500 lb load per tire for example? Thank you.

Hey Jeff, thanks for reaching out!

The Tamarack ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # 274-000029 only has that 2,540 lbs at 65 psi rating and they don't have a chart showing what different weight ratings would be at different psi ratings. So if you were to lower the pressure you would be running at an unknown weight rating.

The only ST225/75R15 tire that I know has a chart like that are from Goodyear like the part # GY97QB. If you check out the linked chart you can see what the different weight ratings are at different pressures.

Are you planning on running your trailer empty?

Hi Jon. My trailer (2025 Cherokee Alpha Wolf 17MKE) loaded weighed at 2,750 lbs on the front axle and 2,700 lbs on the rear axle. So it seemed like overkill to only have the tires inflated at their max rating. And then not sure if that leads to a rougher ride and more prone to a puncture being that high up.

@Jeff I definitely get it. An alternative would be to use the Karrier # AM10251 which has a Load Range C rated for 2,150 lbs at 50 psi.

Thanks for the advice. Any idea if you have contact information for the Tamarack tire manufacturer, so I could see if they might have that information?

@Jeff The Tamarack brand is made by Lionshead, who unfortunately doesn't have a chart or anything like that at this point in time. Their website says to fill the tires to the max psi rating found on the sidewall.
