Will the Draw-Tite Hitch DT84MR Work w/ a 245/60R18 Spare Tire on a 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE?

Question:
I ordered the DT84MR for a 2018 Toyota Highlander XLE. Install went great and used it on a hitch rack during a 2,000+ mile road trip right after. After being under the car and lowering the donut spare tire gross, I wanted to know if I could fit a full-size spare under there now. Im due for new tires, and having 5 good ones feels better than 4 and a donut. The wheel/tire setup I have now is a 245/60r18. Thank you

Hey Shane, welcome back! Our information has the Draw-Tite Hitch item # DT84MR working with a full size spare tire but only on a 18" or 20" steel wheel, but not an aluminum wheel. The aluminum wheels are too wide. A 245/60R18 tire measures 30.6" in diameter. I recommend measuring the space you have between the hitch and exhaust and confirming you have enough room before getting a full-size spare.

Hey Shane, how did it go with checking the space for a full-size spare tire under your Highlander? I'm curious to know if you were able to fit it, as it could help others considering a similar setup.
