Why Wouldn't MORryde Step Above Latch Work with Step

Question:

I have a 2020 Momentum 398m with steps STP-4-26-39. Is there a latch available for these stairs? I bought this product and the gap between the stairs and the door frame is too large for this to work. Thanks.

Hey Matt, the only latch available for the MORryde Step Above is the # MR97BR that you referenced. It sounds like what happened is that you went with a step that was designed for a wider door than what you have which is why the latch doesn't fit. What is width of your door?

So the door opening is 29 1/4, the steps are 23 inches wide. So the steps are much more narrow than the door frame

@Matt Yeah so it is what I suspected and the steps are too narrow for the latch to work. That's probably what the manufacturer put in the RV too so it wasn't your fault.

@JamesonC yess correct, the stairs are too narrow for the door and yes they are the original steps from the manufacturer. That’s why I was curious if there was some other latch that I could use due to this situation, but it doesn’t sound like it
