Question:
Hi, I have a question on this 5 yr old thread. Draw-Tite vs EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2018 Chevy Bolt EVinch I saw DrawTight 24956class1 and ECOHitchclass2 have same specs: Tongue 200LB - TOW=2000LB I can pull the rear bumper fascia and 6 bumper bolts and hang the EcoHitch, sure,,,, But your Draw Tight install video is super clear that it takes an hour and is a dead easy install, so why spend half a day on the EcoHitch for the same specs and twice the price?? I have an old Saris 4 bike platform 2+2 that we used on Race Across America in 2021, I can mount it with E93YR hitch adapter. Road bikes are 20lbs each and this rack is 70lbs as a 4 bike, and 35lbs as a 2 bike. I think Im okay like this with draw tight 24956. What do you think , I definitely would NOT try four 50lb EBIKES like this with either rack. Thanks

Hey Walt. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch item # 306-X7359 is preferred because it has a 2" receiver over the Draw-Tite item # 24956 1-1/4" receiver. There's way more bike racks and cargo carriers that fit 2" hitches than there are that fit a 1-1/4" especially a class I 1-1/4" hitch. The weight capacity of the hitches is going to be limited to what your Bolt is capable of regardless.
Using a hitch adapter like the Trailer Hitch Adapter item # e93YR will reduce your hitches capacities by 50%. This is the same for all hitch adapters not just the item # e93YR. Your 2018 Chevy Bolt EV will now only have a 100 lbs weight capacity. Additionally, some/most bike racks prohibit this so you should verify that your model can be used with a hitch adapter.
If you ever plan on using your Saris bike rack in a 4 bike set up or upgrading your bike rack down the road, I recommend installing the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch item # 306-X7359 on your 2018 Chevy Bolt EV. This hitch has a 2" receiver which will work great with your Saris bike rack. It has a 300 lbs maximum tongue weight, however you will want to consult your Bolt's owner's manual and follow the listed tongue weight capacity.
Do you have a 2018 or 2019 Bolt? The hitches fit both years, I was just curious because your story said 2018 but you put 2019 into the fitguide.
