Will The Draw-Tite Hitch 41938 Fit A 2016 Newmar Bay Star Sport 2702?
Updated 07/31/2025 | Published 07/28/2025 >
Question:
I put in my RV information and this hutch was suggested. I just want to be sure its the correct one as on your Q and A you told someone it isnt for motorhomes. Draw-Tite Ultra Frame 41938. Ours is a 2016 Newmar Bay Star Sport 2702. I want to remove my 5000lb hitch and replace it with a heavier one like 10-12k. Bolt on preferred. Thanks

Hi Lance!
I saw the Q&A you referenced, and it is not correct. The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2" # 41938 will fit your 2016 Newmar Bay Star Sport 2702. This is because it will fit just about anything with a 34" wide frame, which your Newmar has. However, bolting on without having to drill a few holes is pretty unlikely. Once said holes are drilled it will bolt on though! : P
One thing to note, just because a hitch is rated up to 12,000 pounds does not mean that is what your Newmar is rated to. I very strongly recommend contacting Newmar to see what your towing capacity is. You are always limited by the lowest rated component.
What are you planning on towing?
Oh and I removed that incorrect Q&A. It was quite old and before we started working on a fit-guide for RVs.

Thanks for your response Lazer S. My Newmar is 15322 dry & it has a 22000 loaded weight rating. I have a 3500 lb enclosed trailer for my side by side which weighs about 2000lbs wet. It comes to just over the current 5000lb hitch rating but I would feel better with a heavier hitch. The current one only has 6 grade 5 bolts & I see yours has 8. I have no problem drilling the mounting holes. Also I have added Air bags to the front & rear of my motorhome so I think I should be ok & not over my total weight rating fully loaded. I think I'll go ahead & order your hitch. Thanks for the help. Lance
