Will The Thule Motion 3 Roof Box Fit On My 2025 Lexus RX350h?

Updated 08/07/2025 | Published 07/11/2025

Question:

I have a 2025 Lexus RX350h. I have decided on a new Thule Motion 3XL box and prefer to mount on Lexus OEM cross bars. How well does this work? Is there enough clearance under the bars for the Motion 3XL clamps to allow easy install and removal? Are adjustments needed to prevent interference with the RX350h and rear tail gait? I hate to spend the money on Thule bars to get more clearance if not needed but I dont want to buy the OEM bars if it turns out there are clearance or other issues. FYI - I realize the Thule bars provide options to mount more stuff but this is not important to me. I really only plan to mount the box on the bars and take it off once or twice a year. Think winter skiing and a summer vacation.

Hey Ken,

The Thule Motion 3 Roof Box, # TH87PN, mounts to most factory crossbars, along with the aftermarket options. However, you would need to measure and make sure the crossbar spread on the factory rack is enough to accommodate. Since it is a wide variety you should be good but the crossbar spread requirements for that roof box are 21-13/16" - 36-9/16" apart. Most roof racks will fit into that, but I recommend double checking. I am not entirely sure the dimensions of the OEM roof rack, but you really only need an inch or 2 of clearance for install and removal.

I believe the factory rack will work just fine for you. I would just recommend seeing if the Lexus dealership can get you an idea of where it will sit on the vehicle, and the dimensions.

Hey Ken, How did it work out with the Thule Motion 3XL box on your Lexus OEM cross bars? Did you find the clearance was enough for easy installation and removal? I'm curious because it could really help others in a similar situation!
