Replacing Old Furrion AC on 2017 Forest River Cherokee With New Furrion AC

Question:

I currently have a Furion FACR14SA-PS on my 2017 Forest River Cherokee camper. I am assuming this 15k is the newer unit that would replace my older 14.5k unit. Does this unit use the same controller and would the wiring be the same if I upgraded to this model for a simple installation?

Hey Greg! If you're ok with black for the color you can swap out the AC unit with the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner Unit for Furrion Setup # FR86PR. This is an old R410A unit so it will be compatible. All of our old white units have sold out so this is the only option available.

The # FR86TD you were looking at is a new R32 unit so it won't work with your thermostat, controller, and air distribution box. If you want to switch to the new R32 refrigerant (everything is switching this year anyway) so you don't have to worry about a potential lack of parts down the road, or if you prefer white, you need the following:

-Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # FR83TD

If you decide to swap out the entire system it is also worth looking at the Furrion Chill Cube. This is their latest AC system which has the best cooling power, is incredibly efficient, and unbelievably quiet. This AC takes advantage of the R32 capabilities and uses a variable speed compressor. It also uses a remote which acts as the thermostat, along with the controls on the ADB. If you want to go this route you can choose from the following based on ducted/ductless, color, and if you have a furnace.

-Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ductless - 18,000 Btu - Black # FR27TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ductless - 18,000 Btu - White # FR59TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - Black # FR39TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - White # FR99TD

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - Black # FR49TD (if you have a furnace)

-Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - White # FR69TD (if you have a furnace)

The units designed for setups with a furnace come with a wall thermostat so you can tie it all in. The remote is not capable of running the furnace so the additional thermostat is required. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to reach out below.

Hey Greg, did you decide to go with the Furrion Chill HE in black, or did you explore the option of upgrading to the new R32 system? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it might help others considering a similar upgrade.
