What’s the Maintenance Schedule on the Cummins QD 8000 CM44RR for a Full-Timer Traveler?
Published 06/17/2025 >
Question:
I’m a full-timer in a 2021 Tiffin Allegro Red and looking to replace the original generator with the QD 8000. How often does it need oil changes and filter replacements if I’m running 4–6 hours daily? Is there a maintenance kit you recommend?

Great question — and kudos for taking maintenance seriously! For full-time use (in your case, 4–6 hours/day), here’s the typical schedule for the QD 8000 # CM44RR:
Oil change and oil filter change: every 150 hours or once a year - whichever comes first
Air filter: check every 150 hours, replace as needed
Fuel filter: every 500 hours
Valve adjustment: every 500 hours
Cummins offers full service kits — we recommend keeping an extra oil filter and fuel filter on board just in case. I also suggest logging your run hours — a simple logbook or app can save a lot of guesswork.
Where are you full-timing these days? We’d love to know your route and help with altitude or seasonal adjustments.
