Will The Inno IN52FR Hold 4 9ft Long Fly Fishing Rods?

Updated 06/12/2025 | Published 06/07/2025

Question:

Will the IN52FR Rod Holder, hold 4 - 9 ft. fly rods without the tips getting broke? I know yall have the fly rod holders that are installed from the end. I would like a fly rod holder that opens from the side to install on my kayak trailer.

Hey Bob,

The Inno rod carrier # IN52FR can hold 8 full length rods at 9' long. Any rod over 9' long in length will need to be broken down. The 4 rods you have at 9' long are going to fit great in this rod carrier with no issues. I agree the open from the side feature is great and I think it will work well on your kayak trailer. That is going to be a sweet setup.

Does your kayak carrier have crossbars on it to install? What kind of trailer is it?

My trailer is home made. It has crossbars below the kayak, if I get the rod holder, I will have to fabricate the uprights and braces to attach the box. It will be similar to some of the profession-built trailers.

@BobB That sounds pretty sweet Bob. I think that rod holder is going to make a nice addition to your trailer. I am more of an off of the dock fisher myself. The Lake Of The Ozarks is just a little to rowdy to get out and fish on the water regularly. Where do you fly fish most of the time?

@NickS Nick, thanks for responding. I fly fish exclusively. A two-to-three-pound largemouth bass puts up an excellent fight but even larger is unbelievable. Most of my fishing is top water watching the strike is so much fun.

@BobB Sometimes even those bluegill feel like a largemouth so I get that haha. I have always wanted to try fly but the waters I am usually around are just better for the deep catfish maybe some bass if I am lucky. You will have to let me know how the rod carrier works if you end up going with it.
