Curt or Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2023 Kia Sportage
Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/25/2025 >
Question:
For the 2023 Kia Sportage the Curt harness and Tekonsha harness have different amperage ratings, which is going to be safer for my vehicle?

Hey Greg, generally speaking the Tekonsha trailer wiring harnesses like the part # TK32VR are the most reliable and the better option so that is what I would go with on your 2023 Kia Sportage. This also has the higher amperage rating at 7.5 amps per circuit vs. the Curt which is rated for 6 amps per circuit.
These kits are designed with circuit protection built in so you shouldn't have to worry about anything happening to your vehicle. If there's a short on the trailer wiring the converter box is designed to fail and prevent the short from getting to the vehicle.
