Can I Add Larger Wheels And Tires To My 2010 R-Pod 177 With 205/75R14 Tires
Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/16/2025 >
Question:
My travel trailer currently has 205/75R14 tires. I am lifting it 3” and would like to add taller tires. I do not have much room for wider tires though. It’s a 2010 R-Pod 177. I would be willing to go to a 15” wheel for more possible tire options. Something like a 205/85R15 seems ideal, but is a pretty uncommon size. Any suggestions?

Hello Will, thanks for reaching out. It may be possible to upgrade your tires, but the main thing to consider is the clearance in your wheel well area. You want at least 3" between the tire and the fender, and at least 1" between the inside of the tire and the frame of the trailer. So the first thing to do here will be to measure your clearance with the current tire/wheel setup. Then that will tell us if larger tires will fit, and what sizes we can do.
The 205/75R14 are going to be about 7.8" wide and 26" in diameter. If we were to go up to a ST205/75R15 tire they would be about the same width, but more like 27" in diameter. So it would raise the deck by 1/2".
If we went to the next size up, a ST225/75R15, they would be about 8.5" wide, and 28" in diameter. So this would raise the deck by a whole inch, provided you have the fender clearance.
Sadly, we do not offer any 205/85R15 tires. If you can let me know what clearance you are working with currently, I am happy to go over some options with you. Hit the reply button below.
