Will Gen-Y Phantom X Pintle Attachment Remain Secure

Question:
How well does the pintle attachment work? I have seen several of these hitches with a pintle attachment, but they are all dangerously loose. And dont hold the lunette ring securely. I dont see any pictures showing this hitch while using the pintle attachment. Nor do I see any reviews mentioning this arrangement.

Hi Chris; the reason you don't see it addressed in the video is we typically don't see trailers come in with a pintle hook/lunette ring setup. Gen-Y makes really solid, overengineered products so I expect the Phantom X # GY95XR to perform well. As long as you aren't exceeding the 16,000/1,600 towing/tongue weight capacity of the hitch it will remain safe.
From what Gen-Y has told us this design is pretty popular and they're seeing more of a demand for the pintle attachment. However, it does seem to leave quite a bit of room for the ring to move around, the same is true for similar designs from other manufacturers. If that is a major concern for you I would stick with a standard pintle hook.
