Hello J,
We recommend using some Alpha Systems Butyl Tape for RV Weatherproofing - 30' x 1-1/2" x 1/8" # AL62FJ for behind the arms.
I attached a video that Dave did on the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning - 14' Wide - 9'8" Projection - White Fade # LCV000334942-362241. He starts going through the install at about 4 minutes in.
