Brake Controller for 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie

Updated 04/23/2025 | Published 04/14/2025

Question:

Just purchased a 2025 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie and cant find a Brake Controller pigtail under the dash anywhere as was on earlier models. I see many others complaining about the same. Did Ram discontinue the pigtail on the 2025 models?? Has Curt actually tested the Echo on the 2025 Rams??

Hi Doug; this has been a frustrating experience for many people. As far as we know they have moved wiring around and some models don't come with it. If you aren't seeing a factory port under the dash you probably don't have one.

You would need the factory plug along with a controller module behind the rear seat, and some lack the controller module even with the plug. On top of that, it looks like if you have these you also need the dealer to put in a code to allow the controller to work.

What I can tell you is that the Curt Echo # C51180 will work with your 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie as long as you have a 7-way. I can't say if Curt tested it on a 2025 Ram but it literally works with any vehicle that has a 7-way connector. This completely bypasses everything in the truck and runs off the app so it is a great solution here. You can add the # C83HR you looked at in the cab if you would like a physical button for the manual override.

Robin H, I have an update to my original question. My 2023 Ram 1500 had an under-dash 4 lead pigtail with a Male plugin connector attached. This is compatible with the Tekonsha 3024-P Female plugin adapter attached to my Prodigy P2 controller On my 2025 Ram 1500 I finally managed to find a 4 lead Female connector under the drivers side left lower kick panel just forward of the door. I confirmed the presence of 12 V power, Common, Truck Brake input signal and Trailer brake output lead. The problem of course is the Controller and now the Truck have the same Female connector. With some searching, I found the Tekonsha 3045-P adapter cable which is compatible with a number of Dodge and Jeep vehicles. This cable has a Male connector that looks to be compatible with the Female connector on my 2025 Ram. I've ordered this cable and should be able to confirm this works in a few days. My guess is that Stellantis is attempting to standardize on Female connectors across their vehicle lines?

@Doug I just now saw this comment when your other question came through. Sorry I didn't reply, our system probably flagged it because of the links you added in. I'm going to add what you just submitted here below since it will probably be helpful for other Ram owners. I will pass along the information on the # TK93VR working for your 2025. We still have the issue of other reports saying the plug is missing, or the control module is missing. And then there are the customers who had to take it to a dealer and have something activated through the computer before the aftermarket brake controller would function. I'm glad you didn't have to deal with any of that and perhaps this was an issue early on they resolved as more trucks rolled out. The reason we have some different part numbers for the same part can vary. Part of it probably comes from First Brands taking over Tekonsha and messing with their own part numbers as they decide to randomly discontinue and bring back wiring harnesses. We also have some variations at time if it is part of a particular kit for certain vehicles or in multiple categories. Follow up information from Doug: "The New 2025 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie now has a Female connector on the trucks brake controller pigtail. This pigtail is located under the drivers side Left lower kick panel along the front door post as opposed to under the dash for previous model years. I've owned many Dodge 1500s over the years and they have all accepted the same Tekonsha 3021-P brake controller wiring adapter on my Prodigy P2 Controller. This adapter has the same Female Connector as is now on the new 2025 1500s. Through my own research I found photos of the Tekonsha 3045-P Wiring Adapter which you also list as TK93VR. This appeared to have a compatible male connector to the 2025s female connector. This is the same adapter used on a number of Jeep and Chrysler vehicles. I ordered the 3045-P and it fits the 2025 Ram 1500 without modification plug and Play. I test drove the Truck and Trailer and everything functions as expected. It took me about 2 weeks to figure this out on my own since no one had any info on the 2025 Rams. Your website states the 3045-P is not compatible with the 2025s please change this. Also these adapter cables have up to 3 different part numbers for the same item in some cases?"
