How can I Tell that I Need to Replace the Leaf Springs on My 2017 Fuzion 371 Toy Hauler?

Updated 04/07/2025 | Published 04/03/2025

Question:

These are a direct fit for my 2017 fuzion 371 toy hauler. How can I tell if mine are sagging and need to be replaced? I dont see the eye to spring pak dimension called out like on some of the other springs. I want to make sure these are the same dimension or even a little taller. My truck sits a little bit high so I hope these would help bring the rear of the toy hauler closer to level.

Hello Mike,

Great question! You can tell your toy hauler trailer's leaf springs are worn out by looking for several visual and performance-related signs. Visually, worn springs may appear flat or even bowed downward, rather than having their original arch. If your trailer sags, leans to one side, or sits lower than usual, especially when evenly loaded that's a clear indicator of fatigue. Cracks, broken or missing leaves, and shifting or misaligned spring packs also point to failure. You might notice shiny spots where metal has rubbed due to excessive flexing. Performance symptoms include a rough, bouncy ride, bottoming out over bumps, and uneven tire wear from improper suspension support. You may also hear unusual creaking or clunking sounds. It’s a good idea to measure ride height and inspect related components like shackles, bushings, and hangers, since these often wear along with the springs.

When ordering new springs, you want to measure from eye to eye with the weight off the spring. So you may need to jack it up to get a more accurate measurement. Typically the measure that you get is going to be a little longer than what you need to order as they do flatten out over time. The 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU52FR that you were looking at is 25 1/4, it would not be uncommon for your current one to measure around 26 1/4". Let me know your measurement and I will make sure we get you the right fit. One last thing, you should swap out both sides to ensure even wear on the suspension.

I did jack up the trailer and with the weight of the axle hanging I got that 25.25" dimension. I measured 3.25" from the top of the leaf pack to a horizontal line between the eyes. The axles are also 7,000 lb. These seem like the correct springs. They do look flat in a few spots and some even have a slight reverse arch.

@MikeR Hey Mike, Sounds like the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles # e64SR is going to be a better fit for you since they do stretch over time. The # e64SR is 24 7/8" long.
