Can Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Be Added To An Aluminum Frame Trailer?

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/23/2025

Question:

I have an Intech Sol Horizon with a single 3,900 lb dexter axle which I believe is damaged because I have excessive negative camber resulting in wear on the inner tire tread. The frame is 5inch aluminum and it has added plates where the Dexter axle bolts on the frame. My questions are: Can the Tembren Axle-Less suspension be used on this RV? Will I need added plates to mount it to the frame? Can I upgrade to a 5,200 lb capacity? Any other things I should be aware of before doing this?

Hello Joel, thanks for reaching out. The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR5200S01 can be used on an aluminum trailer but you will want to make sure there is like a rubber isolator/spacer between the Timbren and the frame to prevent any galvanic corrosion. We don't have anything specific we can recommend but you might check with a local welder to see what they might have. Then of course the crossmember will need to be added between both units.

You can go with the 5,200 lb capacity if you wish, but this will not increase the carrying capacity of your trailer since parts like the frame, tongue, hubs and tires also have their own weight ratings.

Hey Joel, how did things go with adding the Timbren Axle-Less suspension on your Intech Sol Horizon? Did the isolator and crossmember setup work out as expected? Your update could make it easier for others working with aluminum frames.
