Can 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Use Hitch Extender

Question:
I own a 2025 Sierra 1500 with the oem trailering package, it has a 9,200lb towing capacity with 920lb tongue weight. The truck is the turbomax 2.7L model but equipped from the factory with a class 5 hitch. I own a 2018 Coachmen 213rds, dry weight is 3688lbs and 467lb tongue weight. I’d like to use this product for the extra clearance, I need to my tailgate so I can carry my golf cart as well. I’d like confirm this product will work for my needs because. Thanks.

Hey Chris, the Gen-Y Hitch Receiver Hitch Extender # GY89SR that you referenced itself has the needed weight capacity for your trailer but you do need to consider that when you use a hitch extender like this you cut the capacity of the hitch it is used in by 50 percent. So your trailer would need to weigh a total of less than 4,600 lbs and have a tongue weight less than 460 lb.
