Hello Nathan ,

Looking to switch to the Furrion 18K, great choice! This year, new regulations were introduced for RV air conditioners, requiring a change from R-410A to R-32 refrigerant. This change helps reduce environmental impact and improves efficiency, a win for everyone! Since all AC units have been updated, you'll need a complete new setup in order for the parts to work. To make the switch, you'll want to order (3) of the Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - White # FR99TD. This will provide all the components needed to upgrade your ducted system. It will be 3 new AC units, 3 air distribution boxes, 3 remotes which is also your thermostat, and all the necessary hardware.

We have been playing around with this new system and it is so quiet compared to anything else, and the follow me feature on the remote/thermostat is really neat! I attached some pictures so you can see everything that will be included.

Where did you hear about this new unit, and what is your reason for making the switch?

What I have now is the domtic penguin 2 for the ducted system the other 2 are not ducted. So I would like to have the system the same with 1 thermostat that would run all 3. And can I get away with 2 13500 he’s along with the 18k or should I stay with 15s. And does the heat strip work with the 13.5 or 15.

@Nathan Hello again Nathan, We just so happen to have Lippert (owner of Furrion) here at etrailer doing training on the new 18K units (because they just got released), so I asked their trainer about your setup. He said that if you go with the 13,500 BTU or 15K BTU units for your non-ducted system, they will work with the same thermostat. However, the 18K unit will still need to use its own remote since there’s no way to connect everything to one thermostat. If all three units were 18K, you could link them together to run at the same temperature, or control each one separately with its remote. A good setup for you would be the # FR67FJ kit for the two 15K units ( # FR87FJ for the 13,500 BTU)—this kit includes a thermostat that can also control your furnace. Then, for your ducted system, you could get the # FR99TD unit. If you have any other questions at all, please ask away =)

Hi @KateF, Question about your statement, "If all three units were 18K, you could link them together to run at the same temperature," Does this mean multiple chill cubes can be controlled by a single, wireless remote? Does Lippert/Furrion have a release date for their multizone thermostat to control multiple chill cubes as well as control a furnace? Thank you.

@DougB Hello Doug, I reached out to Lippert to confirm my answer. Yes, you can run all 3 units from the remote at the same temperature. They will have thermostat, the tech informed me that it should be released in May. The new thermostat will be able to control all 3 units and your furnace as well. It truly is amazing how quiet these units are =)
