Recommended Hitch and Brake Controller for a 2022 Ram 1500 Classic

Question:

I have a 2022 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock. I want to tow with it. According to the window sticker it has a class III bumper hitch and is wired up with 4 pin and 7 pin connectors. What Curt part number do I need so I can slide my 2x2 pipe with 2 5/16 ball into it?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 13333, you were looking at, is exactly what you need to add a hitch to you Ram Warlock's bumper. This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver and it sounds like you have a 2" ball mount.

I have linked the instructions below along with an installation video. This hitch is probably the easiest one I have ever seen to install but if you have any additional questions feel free to through them into a comment box below.

Additionally, if you're towing a trailer with brakes you'll also need a brake controller. If you do not already have one, the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness item # RED87CR would be a great option. The only part visible after install is the control knob which is about the size of a nickel. It also includes a plug and play adapter.

I have a trailer with brakes but do I absolutely need the brake controller? I was thinking of hauling something lightweight like a motorcycle.

@Timothy Different states have different laws but if your trailer is over 2,000 lbs you need a brake controller. Do you know your trailer's year, make, and model?

@JerredH Parker is the make, I believe it is 1999. Double axle, 14 feet with about an 18" beaver tail. I also believe the weight is over the 2000 lb mark. Looks like I'll be ordering a controller. Thanks for your time and expertise! Tim
