Suspension Enhancement for 2022 Ram 1500 Towing 2022 Jayco Jay Flight 224BHS

Published 12/18/2025

Question:

2025 RAM 1500 5’7” bed. Towing with v6 engine so my max is around 7800 Towing a 2022 Jayco 224BHS. 27ft long. Gross is around 5700 I believe. Live in Midwest so all flat towing. Tow the camper every other weekend during the summer Using recurve r3 wdh. What’s the best add on option for my truck for leveling and making it less white knuckle driving with sway? Timbrens? Airbags? Etc? Let me know. Thanks!

Hey Greg! If the biggest issue is sway then I think the Hellwig Adjustable Rear Anti-Sway Bar # HE29GR would be the best addition to your 2025 Ram 1500. If you don't have the factory end links you will also need # HE74SR. Sway bars really increase stability and cut down on that side to side movement.

If you're also looking to improve overall ride quality, and still have some rear sag, then the Pacbrake Alpha HD Pro Air Bag Suspension Kit w/ Internal Jounce Bumpers # PB85ZV are the best option. These will help with sway as well but probably not as much as the anti-sway bar.

Air bags are great because they're fully adjustable. You can set it perfectly with your WDH and then adjust accordingly when you aren't towing. You can also run them at the minimum psi when you aren't towing so they will have zero impact on unloaded ride quality. If you decide to go this route I also recommend adding an air compressor like the # AL25980EZ so you can adjust them from the cab wherever you go.

Any favorite places to go with your Jayco on those summer trips?

Thanks! I’m currently using the recurve r3 WDH. Is there any newer / updates ones that you’d recommend to help with sway? Thanks!

@GregK there are some nicer systems but I don't know that you're going to see any significant difference in sway. Something like the Weigh Safe True Tow # WS79VR can be helpful since you basically get the perfect setup every time based on the tongue weight with the scale. However, I don't think it would be worth the cost since you already have the ReCurve. Adding the parts from the original answer would be a better investment. Even adding something to your trailer like the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-106-40 (underslung axle) or # TSS-107-40 (overslung axle) would likely be of more benefit than trying to upgrade the WDH you have now.
