Is the Gen-Y Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Ford OEM Puck Systems Safe to Use?

Updated 11/01/2025 | Published 02/10/2025

Question:

Purchasing a 5th wheel with a Gen Gooseneck and want to install the Gen Y offset 5 hitch system. Will having the hitch point back affect the load on the axel enough to create any problems? 2024 Ford F350 Super Duty with the shorter bed and 4.30 axel Thanks!

Expert Reply:

No, it will not Gus and congrats on the new trailer. The Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch item # GY43XR is completely safe. The offset does not move the weight back relative to the truck bed since the attachment point stays in the same area.

I have linked a review video below so you can see the features of the Gen-Y item # GY43XR demonstrated. If you have any additional questions feel free to throw them into the comment box below and I'll be happy to help you.

Hey Gus, how did things go with the Gen-Y offset hitch on your F-350 and new 5th wheel? Did the setup feel stable when towing? Your feedback could really help others considering the same combination.
