Is Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter Compatible With OEM Prep Package

Question:

If Im reading the fine print right it says this hitch is not recommended for vehicles with factory installed tow packages. Why is that? Thanks

The notes for the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G say "not recommended for use with factory-installed towing prep packages which use a hitch ball with an integrated locking lever." The problem is with the ball and not the prep package itself. The factory gooseneck ball like the # RP19311 has an integrated locking lever on the top that will be damaged by the the adapter.

As long as you use a different ball without the lever on top of the ball this will not be a problem. You could use the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit for Ram Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNXA2062 or B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit for Ford, GM, and Nissan Titan Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNXA2061.
