Where to Mount Ark Drop Down Corner RV Stabilizer Jacks

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/10/2025

Question:

I want to mount these on the rear of a small single axle off-road trailer. Should I mount them in the center of the trailer and then swing out to deploy them, or should they be mounted outboard closer to the frame rails and then swing in. It seems like they should be center mounted and then swing out... I want to make sure they tuck completely under the trailer.

Hey Brent! I would mount the Ark Drop Down Corner RV Stabilizer Jacks # ARK94FR on the outside as close to the corners as possible. If you mount them in the center of the trailer they won't add nearly as much stability.

If you're worried about them hitting each other if you fold them from the corner to the center it probably won't be an issue. When they're collapsed down they are only 19-1/2" long. Even a small camper like the one in the picture below doesn't have an issue with them folding up. You could also mount them so they fold toward the front of the trailer as seen in the other pictures.

Hey Brent, how did the corner-mounted stabilizer jacks work out on your off-road trailer? Did they give you the stability you were hoping for when folded toward the front? Your update could make it easier for others setting up similar trailers.

@RobinH Thanks! They mounted up perfectly and tuck nicely out of the way. They are easy to fold down and deploy, but unfortunately I typically need to place a block of wood or a large rock under the pads because they don't reach all the way to the ground if they are canted out (to provide more lateral stability). My trailer sits pretty high on 35" tires, so I expected that this might be the case in a lot of off road camping scenarios. They will go straight down and easily reach the ground, which provides really good stability from front-to-back. Overall they represent a major upgrade to my original single rear stabilizer, and I'm really happy with the setup. I just wish they had an additional 8" or so of extension (but then they would be longer and probably would not fit the mounting location)

@Brent I'm glad to hear they're working well for you! It can definitely be hard to balance out the right height/length for something like this, especially when it can be used at multiple angles.
