What Size Hole do I Need to Cut to Install the Grommet Part Number G26G ?

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/08/2025

Question:

What size hole does this mount into. I see by the description what size light fits within it, but I do not see the size of hold the grommet covers. I have an old trailer with no manufacturer information to pull from.

Hello Mark,

Your cutout is going to be 2-5/16" x 1-1/16". The # G26G rubber grommet fits into a 2-5/16" x 1-1/16" hole, securing the # CPL26-A clearance light. The grommet holds the light by gripping its edges, while the light's larger front face rests against the outer lip, preventing it from passing through. This setup ensures a secure, flush-mounted installation while allowing for easy removal or replacement.

Let me know how the installation goes. Are you replacing lights on an old trailer? If you have the cutout dimensions and are trying to match things up let me know what the measurements are.

Hey Mark, how did the fit with the 2-5/16 x 1-1/16 cutout work on your old trailer? Your update could make it easier for others trying to match lights and grommets on older setups.
