Which Durabilt Safety Chain Connectors for 13,500 lb Travel Trailer

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/04/2025

Question:

I need to extend the safety chains on a travel trailer with GVWR 13,500lbs. I’m looking at the hammer lock links to do this. What size hammerlock link would I need to safely accommodate the 13,500 trailer? Also, is there a different product you’d recommend to solve my issue?

Hey George, I would go with the 5/8 inch Hammerlock part # DU55QR as it has an 18k capacity which would be more than enough for your 13.5k GVWR travel trailer. These are a really cool connector that are easy to use and also very secure so I would recommend them highly.

Hey George, how did the 5/8-inch Hammerlock links work out for extending your trailer’s safety chains? Your results could help others trying to match their chain setup to a similar GVWR.
