What Could Be Causing the Demco Air Force One to Leak

Updated 02/05/2025 | Published 02/01/2025

Question:

we have an airforce one braking system for our class A MH and our 2016 Ram 1500 truck. we have noticed that it is leaking vacuum over time. this caused us to have to install a new vacuum pump. is there a fix to this issue? thanks Lynette

Hey Lynette, I'm sorry to hear that usually these systems don't have that issue. After reading through the instructions, the only thing I can think of is the coach's air supply line. If the cut made to connect the service relay valve to the braking air tank is not straight and clean, it can cause leaks.

You would've also needed to drain the coach's air tank before installing this line. I'd suggest checking that line, and making sure it's a clean straight cut.

If you still need help after checking this out, feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

This leak has happened while not hooked to MH. We have not taken in on the road for some time w the coach. Although planning on doing so soon, and want to make sure we have good brakes on the tow

@LynetteC Interesting. Have you checked to see if it's a failed check valves that's causing the leak? I did some poking around and it looks like other people had a similar issue and a failed check valve was the culprit. As of last year, Demco has a new and improved check valve supposedly, so I'd recommend giving them a ring and seeing they can send some new ones out under warranty.
