Slide Topper Needed For A Grand Design Imagine 2250RK Travel Trailer

Updated 01/25/2025 | Published 01/24/2025

Question:

We have a Grand Design 2250rk with a 103inch wide slide out. Wanted to confirm this is the correct model topper and which butyl tape would be best to get and how much of it ? 3/4inch or 1inch and how many feet ?

Hey Jonathan,

The Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - 103" Wide - Black # LCV000168108 would be the correct size for your 103" slide out as long as you don't have anything next to it that could interfere with the arms of the awning. Awning arms will stick out 2.5" so if you don't have anything within 3" of either side of the slide out you shouldn't have any issues.

The consistency of the butyl tape is the bigger factor here when choosing the best one. Some are VERY thin and a nightmare to get off of the backing paper. I personally go with the # AL28FJ since it's a bit thicker and is easy to peel off and use. This roll is 20' long so you'll have a lot leftover, but butyl tape is one of the most used components on a trailer so you'll likely find a use for it eventually. If you have a tool box in your camper for repairs while out I would throw the extra tape in there.

I've attached a video below where I'll walk you through the installation of your slide topper, but if you still have questions feel free to comment below.

Thanks Kevin. Is the 20' x 1" x 3/16" butyl tape available in black versus white ?

@Jonathan We don't have a black but we do have a dark gray with part # AL66FJ. You shouldn't really see the butyl tape at all behind the mounting brackets.
