Is My Curt Gooseneck Installed Correctly & What Offset Adapter Do I Need 23 Silverado 2500 6 3/4'?

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/17/2025

Question:

Ive got a 2023 2500HD 6.6 Gas Chevy Silverado 6 3/4foot bed. I bought it with a Curt C60642 already installed. First: It seems to be slightly ahead of the axle not centered on the wheel well. See attached picture. Is it installed correctly? Second: Is there an adapter that is available, either for the pin box or the hitch, for it to offset the 5th wheel back 6 or 8 inches?

Hello Jason,

Yes, you most definitely have it installed correctly. I attached an image of another install so you can see it is identical, I made sure to find one with the wheel well to use as reference.

Getting an offset is always a smart idea, you never want to ruin a trip by taking out the cab of your truck on a sharp turn. As for an adapter, for that particular gooseneck hitch there is not a ball with an offset that will work. You will want to get the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3139, this will give you an 8" offset giving you the clearance you need for those sharp turns.

Once you get things set up please let me know how you like the new set-up. Any fun trips planned for the year?

Hey Jason, how did the setup with the Ranch Hitch adapter work out on your Silverado? It sounds like that 8-inch offset should give you the extra clearance you needed on tight turns. Your feedback could really help others using the same Curt gooseneck hitch.
