Hi Joseph; I'm sure it will be cheaper and I can help you get the parts you need to haul that Bobcat with your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 you looked at is a really great option for a brake controller that will have reliable performance. The correct part number for your Silverado is the # TK99HR which includes the custom wiring harness for plug and play installation. This will plug into the port under your dash.
If you already have a factory 7-way that is everything required for the brake controller. If you don't have a 7-way you will also need the Pollak 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector Socket w/ Wiring Harness and Mounting Bracket # PK11898 to complete your wiring. If your vehicle has a round plug with a cap instead of a bundle of wires above the spare tire, use part # 30955 instead of the PK11898.
I attached some installation videos below for your reference. The prices can be found on the product pages. I don't really have any preemptive troubleshooting ideas, just make sure you follow the instructions to properly set up the brake controller. I attached the instructions below as well and they will be included with the brake controller when you receive it.
