Will Optronics 25 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Work For Rewiring Utility Trailer

Updated 12/08/2024 | Published 12/07/2024

Question:

I am looking to rewire my utility trailer. I see a lot of advice that says I should use 14 - 16 gauge for side markers and tail lights and 12 guage for brakes and brake ground. I like this kit for the wishbone design and full length ground, but concerned about the gauge of the wire. I do have all LED optronics lights. Would this kit be good enough given the wire gauge advice I see regularly? Do you have the same kit in a larger gauge wire? I can buy 12 gauge separately for the brakes of course.

Hi Jason; the 25 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A25W2GWB will be perfectly find for your trailer lights. I wouldn't get too caught up in the wire gauge, especially with the LED lights on your trailer. However, for your brake output wire I would actually go with 10 gauge which we have by the foot using # 10-1-1. The lights won't take much power but you want to make sure you're getting what you need back to the brakes so they function properly.
