Replacement Leaf Springs for a 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 28.5RSTS

Question:

During a recent trip I had to replace a 4 leaf spring on my 2018 Jayco eagle HT 28.5RSTS. Actually replaced both on one axle with 6 leaf springs. Would like to do the remaining two on the other axle with 6 Leaf as well but am not sure of the axle rating or the spring size. Can you help identify what I need? Thanks

Hey Ken! I would be happy to help you but I need some more information. There's no database that will tell me what size or capacity spring you have on your 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 28.5RSTS so what you're going to have to do is jack up one side of the trailer and measure one of the springs you want replaced from one eye to the other. The springs will flatten out over years of use and this is the only accurate way to determine the replacement.

Additionally, if you could take a look at one of your axle tags while you're doing this it'll say the capacity on the axle and we'll know which 6-leaf spring you need.

@JerredH Lippert axel tag says 5145# weight capacity and the leaf spring measurement is 25 1/4". Are 6 leaf appropriate for this,or would 5 leaf be better. 4 leaf just seems/looks small. GVWR OF THE TRAILER IS 10130#. thanks.

@KenB The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,200-lb Trailer Axles item # DX45CR is a direct replacement part for what you have now. More leafs doesn't necessarily mean a softer ride. If you like the 6-leaf set you already started to add then I would go with the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles item # TRU52FR so you have matching springs. If you decide to go with a 5-leaf like item # e34SR you're going to want to replace all of them so your springs match.
