What Hubs and Brakes Do I Need for My 1996 Gooseneck Trailer With 9K ALKO Axles?

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/29/2024

Question:

1996 gooseneck. ALKO 9K axles. I’ve stripped out one hub where the studs go. I need a hub if possible. Also, brakes for both sides. Thanks for any help

Hello Joseph.

For your ALKO 9K axle, I am showing that would be a #99 Spindle, and would require bearings 28580 and 25580, we used to sell this hub, but we no longer have it. I recommend reaching out to our friends at Dexter, you are going to need their part number: 9080568, I would double check your bearing numbers to make sure they match. When you get over 8k on axles all kinds of things come into play, especially the date when it was manufactured. If you want to send me a picture of your axle tag, I am happy to double check.

For the brakes, you should have hydraulic drum, you will need the Hayes/AL-KO Hydraulic Brake Kit - Duo Servo - 12-1/4" - Left Hand/Right Hand - 9K to 12K # K23-524-00-2, I would double check that your has a 5 bolt flange.

Hey Joseph, were you able to find the replacement hub for your ALKO 9K axle after reaching out to Dexter? Knowing what worked could help others trying to match older axle parts.
