Replacement Converter Charger for a PD9155

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/18/2024

Question:

Looking to replace a defunct PD9155 power converter. Looks like the PD9300 series is the way to go. Can I use the 60a version? The wire runs are short 6 and I can go look at their AWG. But I dont know whats needed. Also, can I use the old charge wizard with the new converter?

Yes, you can! The 60A Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger item # PD79RR will work as a replacement for your PD9155 power converter.

You are going to need to increase the wire gauge running to the battery to 4 gauge though. This will avoid any issues since the amperage is increasing and 55 amps is right on the line between gauges.

You won't need the old charge wizard with the new converter charger. The item # PD79RR Charging system senses battery voltage and decreases current as the battery approaches full charge.

Hey, how did the swap to the 60A Progressive Dynamics converter go? Did the 4-gauge wire upgrade work out smoothly with your setup? Your update could make it easier for the next person replacing their PD9155.
