Can Higher-Rated Converter be Used for 100 Ah Lithium Batteries
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/24/2025 >
Question:
For converting to two 100Ah lithium batteries. I have the PD9245C 45 amp converter in a 2010 Nash trailer. It has 6 GA wiring about an 8 foot run. I know you always say match the amp rating on replacements but moving up to a 55 amp lithium compatible converter will speed up my charge rate on two 100 Ah battle born lithiums. They can take it. 6 Ga wiring seems plenty sizable for going to 55 amp output. If you are not allowed to recommend something like this verses this is a bad idea, please say so. Im listening. Thank you.

Hey Allan, thanks for reaching out!
You can definitely use a higher rated converter, like the 60A Progressive Dynamics # PD79RR, to charge your batteries. The time when we talk about making sure everything matches is when everything is OEM and people are wanting to have more overall power in their RV. Since this is just isolated to the batteries and your batteries are 100 Ah Lithium you'll be just fine!
Are there any other projects you plan on doing to get your trailer ready for camping season?
