Option For Replacing Old Regulator

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/12/2024

Question:

100lb tank going into singlewide. Propane furnace, water heater and stove Currently using a old regulator on the side of the building, probably from 500lb tank and very old. Also seems to have a regulator on the QCC1 connector I hook to the tank via adapter. Probably meant for a small trailer, also very old. Everything works until the water heater and furnace come on at the same time and then nothing works. Water heater goes out the pilot and the furnace shuts down with an error. So pretty sure I have a bad regulator setup. Looking to convert to a single regulator. Propane tank, water heater and furnace are all within 20 of each other, tank outside and appliances against that wall.

Hello Ken, thanks for getting in touch. A bad regulator would certainly explain the issue you described, especially if it is an older setup. The MB Sturgis regulator is a great option for a new 2 stage regulator, the right one just depends on how yours is mounted. For a vertical regulator use part # 108220, for a horizontal regulator use part # 108221.

Hey Ken, how did things turn out after switching to the new 2-stage regulator for your propane setup? Did it solve the issue with the water heater and furnace shutting down? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same problem.
