Question:
I have Dexter 4000 lbs axle with 3 inch diameter thickest part. The bolt pattern for mounting the brakes is 4 bolts square, with 3 inches between centers of adjacent bolts not diagonal. The hub bolt pattern lug nuts is 5 x 4.5. The hub is 10 inches in diameter, I could not measure the drum width without removing the tire. This item is rated for 3500 lbs axle, a little under my axle rating. But I never fully load the trailer. Im OK if I have to compensate with higher setting on my break controller if needed. Am I missing something? Is there a better part you would recommend? Thanks!

Hello Ivan.
Thanks for all the information. 4K axles are not all that common now a days. If you are not loading the trailer at full capacity then you will definitely be safe using the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K # AKEBRK-35-SA as the bolt hole dimensions are 2 13/16" (hair shy of 3") center to center all the way around.
If you wanted to go to a higher rated brake, you could go with the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 2009 and Older 4.4K Axles # 23-454-455, these brakes work with axles that were manufactured 2009 or earlier. They too measure 2 13/16" center to center all the way around.
