Is The Trigger Wire Required For Furrion Vision S Side View Cameras?

Published 11/07/2024

Question:

I am replacing both side marker cameras which are older Furrion cameras. The old cameras have 3 wires: ground, traffic lamp, and camera. The replacement cameras have 4 wires: ground, traffic lamp, camera, and trigger signal. I checked all of the on line manuals for wiring and nothing covers the trigger signal wire. Is the trigger wire required? Will the replacement cameras work if using the original 3 wire configuration? As a side note Furrion’s manuals could use some improvement. I have written maintenance and repair manuals for some very complex machines, so I have significant experience on what a good manual should look like.

The trigger wire on both the Drivers # FR85MR and Passenger # FR28NR side cameras is not required if your camper does not have a turn signal function on the front side marker lights. Without having the trigger wire available this simply means you will have to manually select the camera to view on the screen rather than having it automatically come on when you use your turn signals.

These cameras are only compatible with the Vision S monitor and rear camera systems. If you have any other system than the Vision S you would have to change to the S System # FOS07TASF.

Thank you for the quick response. The information you provided tells me exactly how to wire it. It would be great if Furrion included this information.
