Troubleshooting No Power on Curt Echo Brake Controller

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/19/2024

Question:

So I just bought a brand new trailer and I bought a curt echo. I plugged it in and even with the key on and the truck running no lights on the echo turn on at all. I checked all the fuses to do with trailer lights and I might have missed some but all seem to be good and the lights are working on the trailereven with the echo plugged in. the vehicle I am using for it is a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 liter v8. I checked my phone on the app and on Bluetooth and I made sure the Bluetooth and location was allowed on the app and my phone wasn’t picking it up I made sure my phone was updated enough and still no lights and no Bluetooth connection. Any ideas?

Hi Drew; since you checked the fuses already take a tester like # PTW2993 and test the 12V pin on your 7-way. If you don't have power here you either missed a fuse or you have a short in the wiring somewhere. You could also plug the Echo into a different vehicle to see if that works. If you have power it is likely an internal issue with the # C51180 and I would get it replaced under warranty.

Hey Drew, did you get a chance to test the 12V pin on your 7-way or try the Echo on another vehicle? Knowing what you found could help others troubleshoot similar power or connection issues.
