etrailer Dual Fuel Generator Not Working with Propane

Updated 10/15/2024 | Published 10/14/2024

Question:

We have your dual fuel generator. During hurricane Milton, we hadt to crank it up. We could not get it started on propane. Easy start on gasoline. Propane tank was recently filled. What could cause the problem?

Hey Paul, glad to hear you made it through Milton. When it comes to running the 4,500-Watt Portable RV Generator # 333-0005 off of LP gas you're going to want to make sure it's in the right mode, the oil levels are good, and that it is not in battery saver mode.

If it is in battery saver mode, then the generator is not going to start. You need to have a solid red light for you to be able to start the generator.

Page 25 of the instruction manual goes over the indicator lights, so I'd recommend checking that out as well.

If all that looks correct, and your generator is not in battery saver mode, then you likely have a faulty hose/regulator that would need to be swapped out.

Thanks. I was a little suspicious of the regulator. We lost one on our camper a while ago. Please let me know what part I should order.

@PaulT Paul, oddly enough it does not look like the regulator/hose assembly is offered as a replaceable part unfortunately.

Hi Bryce, Thanks! The red light was on and everything looks normal. As I said we had a brand new battery. Do you sell the regulator hose? Shame as we had only used it once before. Thanks! Heidi
