What Equal-i-zer System Should I Use For Trailer With 1,000 lbs on Tongue Weight?

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 09/30/2024

Question:

I purchased the 14000 / 1400 equalizer, I am picking up my new travel trailer this weekend and will load it and then weigh the tongue, If my tongue weight is around 1000 what all do I need to make my system a 12000 / 1200 unit. Do I just need the 12000lb head, it looks like the arms are the same on both the 12000 and 14000 models.

Hello Ryan, thanks for reaching out. If your tongue weight is 1,000 lbs you can go ahead and use your 14,000 lbs Equal-i-zer system # EQ37140ET. This is intended for trailers with a tongue weight between 1,000 and 1,400 lbs, so as long as your are within that range, you will get good, effective ride leveling and sway control.

If your tongue weight is under 1,000 lbs, just get two of the # EQ90-02-1099 spring bars and that will be all you need to convert it over. The # EQ90-02-1099 bars are for between 600 and 1,000 lbs tongue weight. The L-brackets and head are the same.

Hey Ryan, how did things go with your Equal-i-zer setup after you picked up the new travel trailer? Did the 14,000-lb system give you the ride leveling and sway control you were looking for? Your update could make it easier for others working through the same weight range.
