Is Thule Auto Lock Pin the Same for Both Left and Right Chariot Cheetah Replacement Assemblies
Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/17/2024 >
Question:
Hello, I have a Thule Chariot Cheetah bike trailer that I am repairing for my granddaughter. The auto lock pin and knob on the left side are broken. The rest of the assembly is intact. The appropriate part is not available anywhere on the internet that I can find 1540105098 auto lock assembly left. Because I only need the knob and locking pin, do you think I could cannabilize your part TH40191209 and use the knob and locking pin with my otherwise intact auto locking mechanism? It looks identical to the one that is damaged. Obviously you offer a right side part and I need a left, but I’m thinking that the pin mechanism is probably the same for both sides, and for multiple models of bike trailer. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. Likewise if you happen to have the original part ?? Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out, Celia!
Yes, the pin on the Right Side Replacement Auto Lock Assembly # TH40191209 will be the exact same as what you have on the left side, but I will say that I have no idea if you'll be able to successfully remove the pin and place it back in the left assembly like you're wanting to do.

Hey Celia, how did things go with using the right-side auto lock assembly for your Chariot Cheetah repair? Were you able to swap the pin and knob into the left-side mechanism? Your results could really help others trying to fix similar trailers.
