Question:

What is the weight of this adapter? Im looking at the Flint Hill Goods 22inch x 49inch Hitch Mounted Aluminum Cargo Carrier, but I have a 1 1/4inch receiver on my 2022 Mini Cooper S. I like the aluminum carrier to minimize weight, so dont want to negate the weight savings going to an aluminum vs steel carrier, by using a heavy adapter. I have not found any aluminum receiver hitch carriers that fit 1 1/4inch receivers....

Hi Dwight,

The TowSmart Hitch Adapter # TS52FR weighs 6.25lbs, but using a hitch adapter would reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50% because you're now leveraging the weight further away. You could go with the Curt # C18145, which weighs 27.58lbs or the Curt # C18110, which weighs 29.85lbs. The Flint Hill Goods # FHG59ZR you referenced is 24.72lbs so it's not much of a difference weight-wise. Both of the Curt carriers are compatible with 1-1/4" trailer hitches and wouldn't need an adapter.
