Can Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount Be Flipped Over

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/24/2024

Question:

I recently bought a Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount - 5-1/4 Rise, 6-3/4 - 6,000 lbs. In the pictures, it shows the ballmount piece inverted, curving upwards. Im assuming the hitch is rated for that way of mounting? I mounted my ball with the ballmount piece curving downwards and Im not getting enough rise for my needs. Just wanted a clarification before I mount the ball differently.

Hi Taylor; yes, it is perfectly acceptable to flip the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount # C45901 over and use it in the rise position. You can see this in the picture attached below.

Hey Taylor, how did things go after flipping the Curt adjustable ball mount into the rise position? Your results could help others trying to get the right height for their setup.

@RobinH I have hauled my 3800lb travel trailer multiple times with absolutely no issues. Thanks for your assistance in reassuring me that everything would be alright by inverting the hitch.
